This observation is on!<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>On the evening of Sunday May 15 at 9:32 pm, The Earth will begin to slowly move in front of the Sun and block the light from reaching the Moon. Don\u2019t worry, it is not the apocalypse, it is a lunar eclipse.<\/p>\n<p>By 11:29 pm the Moon will be completely covered, beginning a total lunar eclipse which will last until 12:53 am. Because the Earth\u2019s atmosphere will filter some light through, the Moon won\u2019t completely disappear, but it will turn a reddish color creating what is known as a \u201cBlood Moon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To view this astronomical phenomenon up close (weather permitting), join the Forsyth Astronomical Society (FAS) at Kaleideum North for an eclipse viewing.
