Please join us for the May 10, 2023 meeting of the Forsyth Astronomical Society. The meeting will be held at Kaleideum North (formerly SciWorks), 400 West Hanes Mill Road, Winston-Salem, NC.
FAS member Michael Wharton will present a summary of the 2023 TriStar Event and share some of the things he learned along with many photos from the event. This year’s TriStar speakers included:
- Anne Verbiscer, University of Virginia. Topic: Uncovering the Origin of the Solar System with NASA Discovery Lucy Mission & Topic: Stellar Occultations in the Gaia Era: Ground-based Support for NASA’s Small Body Missions.
- Erik Peterson, Duke University. Topic: So, I’ve Taken an image with a Telescope – How Do I Measure the Universe.
- Hank Corbett, UNC-Chapel Hill. Topic: The whole sky every second: Hardware to Science with the Argus Optical Array.
- Kyle Lanning, Mayland Community College. Topic: Earth to Sky Park: Small Park, Big Dreams. [a handout from that talk is scanned and included below]
The program starts at 7:30 pm. The Society’s business meeting will take place after the program.
