FAS Observation at Kaleideum North Saturday 2/1

Update 1/31:

We are a GO for tomorrow nights observation at Kaleideum North. The current forecast is calling for AM rain, followed by clearing skies around sunset. Clear to partly cloudy skies, with temperatures around 50 at sunset, falling to the mid to low 40’s by the end, NW winds around 6 mph.

Saturday February 1st the Forsyth Astronomical Society will be hosting a public observation event at Kaleideum North. We will have several telescopes of different varieties and sizes setup to show you some night sky wonders. Sunset is at 5:45 PM and we will begin showing you targets as they become available. The quarter moon and Venus will be among some of the most early targets. As it gets darker star clusters, some nebulae and even a few galaxies will be in the range of some of the larger telescopes at the event. Make sure to observe The Great Orion Nebula before you leave it is always a treat even in moderately moonlit skies. Come on out and enjoy the night sky.

This is a weather dependent event. A final weather call will be made on Friday January the 31st. This posting and our club’s Facebook page will be updated to reflect that weather call. The forecast is for rain earlier in the day clearing to partly cloudy skies and temps in the mid to low 40’s for the evening. We can work with partly cloudy.

This is a family friendly, kid friendly event that is FREE and open to the public.
