I tend to browse S&T issues over time, and was pleased to just find Howard Banich’s Going Deep story on NGC 2359 in the Jan 2026 issue. By chance, I had just finished processing an image of Thor’s Helmet obtained during a dark sky imaging session near Pilot Mountain, NC. Although the challenges of visual observation and DSO imaging are different, it was rewarding to compare Howard’s drawing and keen observations to my own image. Perhaps in the future, I will be inspired to take along an eyepiece or two and experience objects in “real-time”.
