That’s a wrap! October 15 Pilot Mountain

We’ve dug out a few photos from the October 15 public viewing we had at the top of Pilot Mountain State Park. Around 200 people attended, and we had lots of fun observing Jupiter, Saturn, and other celestial objects before clouds rolled in. FAS members Gwen and Bob Rheaume also attended; however, it was a crowded parking lot, and no photos were taken after the sun set and our observing work began.

Across the top row of the parking lot were members of the Lexington Astronomy Club, along with FAS members Ken Lyons, Bruce Gavett, Steve Esparza, Tim Ritchie (setting up his telescope in this photo), and Caitlyn Zarzar. Tony Goebel and Michael Wharton helped out by moving through the crowd to greet people and discuss astronomy.
FAS Club President Justin Nichols’ telescope is in the foreground, and Mark Terry is set up in the background.
Across the bottom row of the parking lot were FAS club members Sandy Sheppard (visible in this photo), Mark Terry, Steve Childers, Sean Wood, Wally Otti, Justin Nichols, and Andrea Nichols.
