That’s a Wrap! Telescope Workshop

FAS held a telescope workshop at its May meeting. There were several great questions, and, hopefully, a few good answers. However, if you need a follow up or missed the meeting, here is some useful information.

In general, you can find answers to your questions on the FAS Website (fas37.org).

For those of you just starting out, we have an Introduction to Astronomy & Stargazing. This will give you a high level overview of the hobby as well as links to much more information.

If your focus is on purchasing a telescope or on how to use your new telescope, check out our Telescope Basics.

If you were at the meeting, you might have noticed that several of us like the Seestar S50 and S30 smart telescopes. We have a lot of information online for this – just click on the link to the left.

With Orion and Meade going out of business, it is harder to find a supplier of telescopes and telescope accessories. We have a page listing many of the Suppliers you could use. Although, we haven’t evaluated them all, so do your own research before making any purchase.

There was some discussion about the club’s observatory at Bullington. This is for members only (after the appropriate training). The Bullington location is also used for member-only observations.

In any event, please join us for our public observations. They will provide an opportunity for you to see various telescopes and ask questions. Do note, however, that we take a break during the summer – it is just too hot and it gets dark way too late. We’ll be back in the fall.
